What's New ABO

Did you know that as a candidate or Diplomate you can access all reference materials for CAPs, SAMs and webinars through your ABO dashboard? Want to have a second look at an article from a CAP assessment? Take another look at a webinar slide deck? Or perhaps review a reference from a self-guided learning module? You can! Simply log in to your dashboard at www.americanboardofoptometry.org and click on References. Scroll to the item in the library you are interested in and click to download!

Don’t miss our upcoming webinar on Tuesday, February 13, from 8:00 – 10:00 pm EST! Leonard Messner, OD, FAAO will present a 2-hour COPE-accredited course on Neuro-ophthalmic Disease Review. This is a great review that aligns with our current CAP assessment on Neuro-ophthalmics. Check your email for the registration email. Dr. Messner is the Vice President for Strategy & Institutional Advancement at the Illinois College of Optometry where he holds the rank of Professor of Optometry at ICO, and is the immediate past Chair of the Neuro-ophthalmic Disorders SIG of the American Academy of Optometry. And save the date now for our spring webinar, Long Term Outcomes and Recent Advances in Refractive Surgery, presented by Mark Eltis, OD and scheduled for Monday, April 29 from 8:00 – 10:00 EST.

Attending SECO? Stop by booth 2142 to visit with ABO staff. Learn about the board certification process or our new CAQ program, check your Diplomate status/requirements or get the answers to any questions you may have! We look forward to seeing everyone in the exhibit hall March 1-2!

Don’t forget to follow ABO on social media! Check out our Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn pages to stay up to date with important news, interesting stories and timely reminders! Be sure to follow and like our pages and share if you can!

We’ve added a new self-guided learning module to our Category 2 MOC activities! Our library of learning modules keeps growing with almost 20 to choose from. Newly added is Neurotrophic Keratitis, worth 3 Category 2 CE points toward meeting MOC requirements. Self-guided learning modules are not scored and feedback is provided for each answer given to help reinforce content. Diplomates have offered great reviews of our learning modules which are short, engaging and very informative!

Does your employer require board certification? If you work for a private practice or healthcare organization that requires board certification for optometrists, we would like to hear from you. Please contact the ABO office at 314.983.4226 or [email protected] to take a brief survey and earn 2 Category 2 CE points.
