We need your response! Look for our Diplomate Survey to hit your inbox the week of May 16! ABO continually strives to improve board certification and the Maintenance of Certification program. To better serve both our Diplomates and the greater public, we need to hear from you. Direct feedback from program participants is vital to guiding our decisions on how best to meet the educational and continued competency needs of Diplomates. Please make it a priority to complete the survey, which takes less than 10 minutes. Two points of Category 2 CE can be claimed by each Diplomate who submits the survey, and you will be entered in a drawing to win one of two $250 Amazon gift cards.
New for the May 15th Anterior Segment I CAP assessment! The reference list for the May 15th CAP assessment will look a little different. To better align with state board CE requirements and to better facilitate preparation for each assessment, reference documents will now include an expanded overview that features learning objectives, syllabus, and detailed course outline. Diplomates who are looking for a little extra study guidance may find these additions helpful when reviewing reference materials.
Congratulations to Dr. Jeffrey Michaels on being selected as the American Optometric Association’s Optometrist of the Year! Dr. Michaels has been an ABO Diplomate since 2013 and is co-owner of a group practice in Richmond, Virginia. He played a vital role during the COVID pandemic, presenting 8 COVID relief webinars and helping optometrists across the country receive a collective $1.6 billion to maintain their practices during the economic uncertainty. Dr. Michaels is past president of the Virginia Optometric Association and recently served as Co-Chair of the Legislative Committee during Virginia’s 2022 laser scope expansion. He has also been honored twice as Virginia’s optometrist of the year and is a two time recipient of the President’s Award from the American Optometric Association for helping to increase the quality of eye and vision care to patients worldwide.
