We need your help! Please be on the lookout for the JTA survey that will be sent via email in mid-November. The survey is required by our accrediting body, NCCA, and the results will form the content of the board certification exam for the next 5 years. We need all Diplomates and candidates to complete the survey and encourage colleagues to complete it as well. All survey respondents will be entered into a drawing to win one of two $500 Amazon gift cards.

Don’t miss our next webinar! On Tuesday, November 17th, Dr. Craig Hyre will present a 2-hour webinar on How to Thrive in a Medical Optometric Practice. This webinar will focus on understanding the differences between a medical and a vision optometric practice, determining if your practice is a good candidate for decreasing or eliminating dependence on VCPs and developing strategies for transitioning to a medical optometric practice. Invitations to attend the webinar will go out in early November.

Be sure to check out the new website feature for Diplomates and Candidates only! You can now access important resources such as CAP and SAM reference documents, logos and graphics, an ambassador directory and more by logging into your dashboard at www.americanboardofoptometry.org.  Your Dashboard also allows you to easily access your Learning Builder page for updating MOC requirements, taking CAP assessments and paying annual fees.

Help us help you! Take a minute to make sure your Learning Builder profile is up to date. If you attend a webinar or complete a CAP assessment and we do not have your correct OE Tracker number, the credit does not get updated in OE Tracker. And if we do not have a good email address, we can’t send you reminders to help keep you on track with requirements. Do you have a new practice location or website? Patients using our doctor locator need to be able to contact you. Making sure we have the information we need helps you stay informed, stay connected and receive the credit you have earned.

Don’t miss two great articles from fellow Diplomates in the October issue of Modern Optometry. Not Your Typical Scleritis by Erich Hinel, OD, MS, FAAO and Cancer Treatment and the Eyes by Cecelia Koetting, OD, FAAO

Congratulations to all new Diplomates who passed the July/August 2020 exam!  We are excited that this group included over 50 young ODs who completed their residency this June. All new Diplomates have been added to the doctor search feature and will begin our maintenance of certification program, CAP, in January 2021.

Have a positive experience you want to share with us? ABO is in the process of updating many of our marketing materials and we would love to include positive, insightful testimonials from our Diplomates. We may feature them on event banners, print ads, our website, or other marketing pieces
