ABO and the CRO Journal to Collaborate on Learning Modules
ABO is excited to announce a collaboration with the CRO (Clinical & Refractive Optometry) Journal, with the intention to provide ABO Diplomates with additional learning opportunities.
The CRO (Clinical & Refractive Optometry) Journal is an online, peer-reviewed, open-access platform. Articles featured in the CRO Journal are also made available as COPE-accredited courses through a companion online Continuing Education platform at https://www.CROJournal.com.
The core mission of the CRO Journal is to present peer-reviewed articles that spotlight real-world cases alongside comprehensive topic reviews, providing valuable learning experiences. Guiding the journal is ABO Diplomate, Dr. Susan Resnick. Dr. Resnick brings extensive experience and a fervor for mentorship and peer education to her role as Editor-in-Chief.
In addition to the courses derived from the Journal, CRO collaborates with other prestigious peer-reviewed journals, including the Journal of Sports and Performance Vision and the Journal of Contact Lens Research and Science, making selected articles available as COPE-accredited CE Courses.
The CRO Journal is generously providing ABO access to their articles as the basis for self-guided learning modules for our Diplomates. The CRO-based modules will be listed as activities in the “Category 2: Self-guided Learning Modules” section on Diplomates’ learning plan pages and will be marked with “CROJ” after the title. Once the activity is selected, a link to the CRO Journal article will be provided. After reading the article, Diplomates will return to the module and answer the multiple-choice questions. As with other self-guided learning activities, Diplomates will not be graded and there is no pass/fail score, but they will receive feedback after submitting their answers. At the completion of each module, Diplomates will be awarded two (2) Category 2 MOC points, which will be reflected automatically on the CE tracker bar at the top of the learning plan page.
Diplomates also have the option to receive 1-hour of COPE-accredited CE for each course through CRO’s continuing education platform. At the end of each learning module, there will be a link to the course platform along with an ABO-exclusive code for a discount on the course enrollment fee.
Our first CRO Journal-based learning module will be available by November 15, 2023 on the topic Ocular Sarcoidosis, based on this CRO Journal article:
Desai H, Shenouda-Awad N. The Inflammatory Dilemma: A Unique Case of Ocular Sarcoidosis and The Road to Diagnosis and Management. CRO Journal. Published online June 23, 2023. doi:10.57204/001c.82038
Several more learning modules will be made available before the end of the year and ABO plans to add new modules bimonthly next year. We hope our Diplomates enjoy this opportunity to expand their learning opportunities and we thank the CRO Journal for sharing their resources.
