Third Annual Learning Through Clinical Care Student Case Challenge Opens June 15

ABO is excited to announce our third annual Learning Through Clinical Care student case challenge, open to all third- and fourth-year optometry students. The submission window will open on June 15th at Optometry’s Meeting in Phoenix, Arizona, and close on August 31st.
Third- and fourth-year students who are involved in patient care are encouraged to submit a written patient case based on a clinical encounter where the student has had direct involvement in the diagnosis and/or management of the patient. Since most students are required to complete a case during either their third or fourth year, this is an excellent opportunity to use that case for an entry to the case challenge.
“In past years, ABO’s case selection committee has been impressed with the quality of case submissions received,” stated Dr. Nilou Soltanian, a committee member. “The candidates have really done a great job of finding quality references, providing a thorough discussion of the clinical situation and organizing their approach to the case.” Last year’s winner, Jennetta Dao, OD, a fourth-year student at Nova Southeastern University, submitted a case entry entitled Ocular Adverse Effects of Tivdak® Infusion Therapy.
This year’s winner will receive a cash award of $1,000 and the opportunity to have their case developed into a learning module for ABO Diplomates.
