Your residency counts for a lot!
There’s important news for ODs who have completed a recent ACOE-approved residency.
If you sit for the American Board of Optometry Board Certification exam within three years after finishing your residency, you automatically qualify to take the test – no need to accrue CE points for exam eligibility.
And now, if you take the exam within one year after completing your residency, you’re eligible for a reduced exam fee of $1,000 (a savings of $500). This benefit takes effect with ODs completing residencies in 2014 or 2015 who are eligible for the July 2015 exam.
The American Board of Optometry Board Certification exam is offered each January and July at Prometric Testing Centers around the country and overseas – so finding a convenient location is easy.
American Board of Optometry Diplomates cite many benefits of Board Certification. It signifies a commitment to lifelong learning, excellent patient care, professional growth, and personal enrichment. It’s a sign to your patients and your peers that you care about continuous achievement and improvement.
