News & Notes
New webinars added to library. Our two most recent webinars have been added to the “Links” tab on the ABO website. Topics are Advances in the Diagnosis and Treatment of Glaucoma and OCT Interpretation. Our next webinar will be held in January 2018. Keep an eye out for a save-the-date in mid-December!
End of year wrap up! Don’t forget to check your Learning Plan page to make sure you are caught up on required MOC activities. When logging CE hours, remember that you can enter them in groups. Each individual class does not have to be entered. For example, if you attended Academy or a State Association CE Weekend and took 16 hours of classes, simply enter the event name, date, sponsor and total number of hours. If you missed completing a module in one or more years, you CAN do multiple modules in one year to catch up. And if you think you may not be able to complete your requirements on time, give us a call at 314-983-4226 and we can help you get back on track.
Holiday hours: The ABO office will be closed on November 23rd and 24th and from December 22nd through January 2nd. If you have questions regarding your MOC or the January exam, please contact us via email or phone as early as possible. For those Diplomates who are due to complete an MOC stage in 2017, it will not change your status to wait until January to contact us with any issues or questions.
Make sure your NPI number is accurate in Learning Builder! We have had several Diplomates who do not have their board certification listed on Physician Compare because their NPI number is not correct in our database. NPI is the field that CMS uses to match our Diplomate profiles with their provider profiles. If there is not a match, the certification cannot be added to the provider’s profile in the CMS database.
