Welcome to our new School Ambassadors! ABO has recently launched a School Ambassador program to reach out to current students, residents and faculty members about the benefits of board certification to both the individual practitioner and the profession. We have Ambassadors in place at almost half of the optometry schools and are working to fill the role at remaining schools. Ambassadors will engage with colleagues and students throughout the year, serving as both an advocate for board certification as well as a mentor for those who choose to become candidates and sit for the exam. We appreciate the volunteer efforts of these Diplomates and thank them for their service!

Make sure your NPI number is accurate in Learning Builder! We have several Diplomates who have not had their board certification listed on Physician Compare because their NPI number is not correct in our database. NPI is the field which CMS uses to match our Diplomate profiles with their provider profiles. If there is not a match, the certification cannot be added to the provider’s profile in the CMS database.

MOC Reminder! Don’t get behind on maintaining your MOC requirements. Remember to do your annual module and enter all CE into your Learning Builder portal. And if this is the year you are doing a PPM, remember it could take 30-90 days complete. Allow yourself plenty of time!
