A Note About our Presenter:

Dr. Richard E. Castillo, OD, DO is a graduate of the Oklahoma College of Optometry as well as Oklahoma State University’s Health Science Center where he completed a residency in Ophthalmology.  A practicing surgeon, he also serves as professor, chief of surgical services, and Assistant Dean for Surgical Training/Education at Northeastern State University’s Oklahoma College of Optometry.  He is the author or co-author of several textbook chapters including the introductory chapter in the iconic Rosenbloom’s Vision and Aging.  Dr. Castillo has served on numerous committees for the National Board of Examiners in Optometry, and as chair of the National Commission on Vision and Health.  Dr. Castillo has presented over 800-invited lectures both nationally and internationally.  In the winter of 2014 he was presented a Special Citation from the Oklahoma House of Representatives for outstanding contributions to the advancement of optometry and surgical care in the state of Oklahoma.  In 2015 the Oklahoma State Board of Examiners in Optometry presented him a similar award.
