Diplomate Spotlight – Dr. Rachel Grant
Dr. Rachel Grant is part of a new generation of optometrists who are embracing board certification as a path to lifelong learning and maintaining the highest measure of quality care. “As I entered into optometry, I made a promise to myself to never be complacent with my education and to provide the highest standard of care within my abilities,” said Dr. Grant. “Completing board certification was a natural evolution and extension of that promise and responsibility to myself.”
A 2012 graduate of the Southern California College of Optometry, Dr. Grant went on to complete a residency in Primary Care and Ocular Disease at Hu Hu Kam Memorial Hospital in Sacaton, Arizona. Upon completing her residency, she accepted a position as a clinical instructor at the Southern College of Optometry and currently practices in the Tearwell Advanced Dry Eye Treatment Center. Dr. Grant enjoys working with third and fourth year interns and also assists in labs with first and second year students.
As an active volunteer in eye care, Dr. Grant has served communities on a local, national and international level. She has participated in humanitarian missions throughout Central and South America as well as the African nations of Kenya and Tanzania.
A native of British Columbia, Dr. Grant loves to travel and visit new cities when she is away from the office. Having settled into her new Memphis home, she is also enjoying a little exploring on a local level, always on the lookout for a new place to get a great taco or Thai food!
