ABO Announces New Public Member

June 1, 2012

The American Board of Optometry is pleased to introduce John P. McGuire as its new public member on its Board of Directors.  As a retired hospital executive, McGuire contributes additional experience with health care operations and finance to the ABO Board.

McGuire joins at an exciting and busy time of the year for the ABO – the months preceding a board certification exam.

“The ABO already has many active candidates registered for its July board certification exam, and we’re expecting many more to sign up over the next month.  Many optometrists are eager to earn board certification before the phase-in rules expire,” explains McGuire. “I’m looking forward to welcoming new Diplomates to the ABO in August and contributing to the rapid growth of the organization.”

McGuire’s additional achievements include the positions of National Chairman for the Healthcare Financial Management Association and Fellow for the American College of Healthcare Executives. He also actively participates in many other professional, civic and volunteer organizations at local and national levels.
