Dr. Reiss retired from private practice after working for many years in an ophthalmology practice in Huntington, N.Y., where she specialized in contact lenses. For one semester, she served as clinical assistant professor at UIW Rosenberg School of Optometry, mentoring fourth-year students who worked in an external clinic as part of their last semester rotations. She spent the early part of her career working in the contact lens industry in clinical research and professional services. Reiss has been a fellow of the American Academy of Optometry since 1980. She has served as chair of its admittance committee, and has been a member of its membership committee and President’s Task Force. She currently serves on the Academy’s communications committee and helps edit its weekly e-newsletter, the Eye-Mail® News Brief.
